We are pleased to announce this year’s winners of the People’s Choice Awards as voted by our festival attendees. Congratulations to the filmmakers!
Best Feature Film – Frontieres
Borders is part road movie, part geography lesson, part examination of the political economy of West Africa, part thoughtful and complex feminist statement. And it’s 100% entertaining, with fascinating characters, terrific acting and a compelling narrative.
Best Documentary Film – Sisters of the Wilderness
Sisters of the Wilderness explores the plight of the iMfolozi wilderness itself – severely threatened by open-cast coal mining on its border, and the highest rates of rhino poaching in more than a century.
An enormous thank you our festival co-presenter SFU Woodward’s, all the attendees, volunteers, community partners and sponsors – we couldn’t have pulled the festival off without your ongoing support! If you have questions or comments about the films or VSAFF, please feel free to email us.
