Dis ek, Anna, which screens at VSAFF on Sunday, April 10, 7 p.m., won big at the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) on Sunday night.

This outstanding Afrikaans-language film from director Sara Blecher took home awards for Best Achievement by a Supporting Actor in a Feature Film, Best Achievement in Directing in a Feature Film, and Best Feature Film.

Dis ek, Anna had already won three technical awards on Friday: Best Achievement in Scriptwriting in a Feature Film, Best Achievement in Art / Production Design in a Feature Film, and Best Achievement in Make-up and Hairstyling in a Feature Film.

Also on Sunday, Mduduzi Mabaso from For Love and Broken Bones (Sunday, April 10, 1:30 p.m.) won for Best Achievement by a Lead Actor in a Feature Film.

Some past VSAFF films were also recognized this weekend. Nomhle Nkonyeni, who is known for her performance in Of Good Report, accepted the SAFTA Lifetime Achievement Award for 2016. And Basiami Bibi Segola (Hear Me Move), won for Best Achievement in Sound Design in Feature Film.
